Rafael Fellmer, 29, was born into a good German family, his father was a successful architect and his mother an art therapist. Fellmer himself is well educated, graduating from a course in European Studies in Hague, so he could probably get a good job if he wanted one.
But instead he does odd jobs and gets his food out of supermarket dumpsters, just so that he can live a life without money.
Rafael and his Central American wife Nieve do all sorts of chores to pay their rent and use a barter system to get the things they need. Occasionally they do have to spend money, (like when she was pregnant and needed to see a gynecologist) however they try to avoid it at all costs.
